Teaching Philosophy

When I studied at Central Saint Martins, we were told on our first day: “We do not want you to join the world of art and design when you finish this course. We want the world of art and design to be different because you have graduated.”This statement perfectly captures my teaching philosophy. I believe in creating a platform where students are encouraged not just to participate in their field, but to challenge and transform it.

My favourite part of teaching is helping students expand their critical thinking. I believe the creative process often holds more value than the final outcome. With that in mind, I encourage experimentation and aim to push students beyond their comfort zones. I see myself as a facilitator—guiding their research and development so they can shape and refine their own unique ideas.

Students in art and design have the rare freedom to redefine boundaries and reimagine possibilities within their chosen medium. Supporting them on this journey—helping them question, explore, and create—is both a privilege and a continual source of inspiration for me as an instructor.
